I need an insiders point of view! Presently I reside in Philadelphia and have an opportunity to move to Chicago for a pay increase and better position. I grew up in Detroit and briefly lived in Chi-Town back in high school. Given my circumstance being a midwestern guy who is now adapted to the east coast I need to ask which would you prefer given the opportunity? Chicago or Philly?
From what I have gathered I have to admit I find the nightlife, food, accessability, and weather amazing in Philly. I do however find the people in Philly to be insufferable, unprofessional, rude, and straight up ignorant. It’s by far the rudest place I have ever lived and it has one of the most small town feels ever. Everyone in Philly is born and raised here and doesn’t branch out. Daily I find people here to have no clue where NYC is regardless of the fact they have lived here all their lives. To top that off they simply hate other cities because of sports teams, if you’re not for Philly you’re against them all. Never lived in a place where people actually want to hang themselves if the baseball or football team doesn’t win.
In the five years I have lived here I found I am more guarded and less trusting of everyone around me, and also find that it does have a fast pace. People here will walk into a building and you as the customer service rep are expected to wait on them hand and foot while gathering the list of demands they have. Not only will they treat you like crap off the bat they will do it while also dickering price, and looking like total trash…sweat pants are a prime example…it’s a serious fashion statement here. Overall I will miss WaWa, cheesesteaks, and NYC (LOVE NYC).
What I loved about Chicago was the nicer people, the professionalism, and the lake. People tend to be more laid back and have a more positive outlook on life despite the fact the winters are balls cold, and it snows like hell every month during the winter (which I’m not excitied about). What I’m scared about is not having as many job opportunities (because the midwest is sucking eggs economically), and being stuck in retrospect….what is outside of Chicago? Nothing for miles.
What would you do given the opportunity? I’m sure I’ll have several people from Philly comment on what an *** hole I am, so feel free…it’s nothing I haven’t already heard. ;-)

Best answser:
Kristoph…:Well Philly was 1st in murders, chicago 2nd lol. But other than my crap attempt at humor, I’d say Chicago. It seems you’ll have a whole better attitude living here. Just remember that taxes are really high, parking is crazy, parking tickets even crazier, and mother nature likes to PMS all year long (no offense to our lovely women)- although she has been quite pleasent to us this year.

how many total baggage we can bring for the two of us?
and how about our hand carry…

Best answser:
potatoch…:You can each have a carry-on bag which goes into the overhead bin and 1 personal item which goes under the seat in front of you.As for checked bags, I would say 2 each.

Other answser:
by Gerald J:Each airline is different regarding baggage allowances. It also depends on the class of travel, the route and whether you’re a Skywards frequent flyer member. Emirates allows two carry ons in 1st and business class, but only one carry on not exceeding 7 kg. in economy class. For checked baggage the weight limit is 30 kg. on many flights, but you can purchase extra baggage for a fee. Here’s their baggage allowances:http://www.emirates.com/hk/English/plan_…Check the website of Ethiopian Airlines for allowances for your class of travel and route.
by bubbles6…:What airline?

so i really need help deciding to move right now i am living at the hotel that i work at an hours have been bad the last six months i have been here everyone tells me that soon (the summer) it should be very busy and i should make more money. Due to the lack of hours i am no longer able to pay all my bills. So i was given an opportunity to move out to Kansas with family and live with them rent free and a job would be provided. The only thing is i have some experience living with family rent free before and that was not a good thing. so question is should i stay here to see if it does get busy or move half way cross country?

about 30-50 euros per night for the hotel. about 20 euros per day if you want to eat in restaurants. and about 10-20 for each night you wanna go to a bar-club (10 for the entrance if there is one and 10 for a second drink or 3-4 shots) .30-40 per day if you want to rent a car. all in all you will have to take more or less 600-800 euros dependinig on the places you choose and if you want to rent a car or a scooter for your transportations.you can also take a taxi if you cant afford to rent .

Hi,
Does anyone know how to go to cocos (keeling) island from Dubai (UAE)?
I have been unable to find any flight that goes to cocos island international airport.
If someone knows about it or been there, then please let me know.
Thanks

Best answser:
cc_of_0z:There are no direct flights to Cocos Islands from Dubai. Virgin Australia is the only airline that flies there. They have routes from Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Christmas Island only. Your shortest route would be a connecting flight via Perth.

Other answser:
by The Russ:Yes there is an airport the IATA code is CCK. flights originate from Perth via Christmas Island on Virgin 3 times a week (Tues, Fri, Sat)
by Cathy:I am not sure, but I think you would have to fly to Australia first then fly to the Cocos Is.

This is for an afternoon of kayaking with orca’s and I do not drive. Suggestions? Comments Ideas?

Best answser:
Tori:There are several ways to make this trip without a car.1. Take a BC ferry from the mainland to Vancouver Island: http://www.bcferries.com/ and take a bus to Sidney. From Sidney take a Washington State Ferry to San Juan Island: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Ferries/visitors… Retrace your steps for the return trip.2. Take the train from Vancouver to Seattle: http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSer… Catch the #99 Metro Waterfront bus: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-waterfron… a couple of blocks from the train station and take it about a mile to Pier 69 on the Seattle Waterfront. Take the Victoria Clipper: http://www.clippervacations.com/?npoCode… from Pier 69 in Seattle to San Juan Island. Retrace your steps for the return trip.3. Take the train from Vancouver to Bellingham, WA: http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSer… and take Victoria San Juan Cruises from Bellingham to San Juan Island: http://www.whales.com/3. Take a ferry from the mainland to Vancouver Island and take a shuttle or bus to Victoria. From Victoria take the Victoria Clipper to Seattle: http://www.clippervacations.com/?npoCode… then from Seattle take the clipper that goes to Friday Harbor. Retrace your steps for the return trip. 4. Kenmore Air round tripHere is an article with more details: http://www.squidoo.com/San_Juan_IslandYou can also mix and match taking one transportion option in one direction and another the return trip.

Other answser:
by Karen L:You didn’t say if you are taking a kayak with you or not. Sounds like not. You don’t have a whole lot of choice here. The only ferry to San Juan leaves from Anacortes or from Victoria(Sidney, actually). You can fly from Vancouver on San Juan Airlines, but you’ll probably choke on the price: $465.I don’t think any transportation goes directly to Anacortes from Vancouver but buses go to Bellingham and its airport, Amtrak goes to Mount Vernon, and there is local transportation to Anacortes(shuttle buses) from those places.
by Hitesh:It’s a really good idea and the sun set looks awesome from there … I am sure you’ll love it.Enjoy !!http://www.crystalseas.com/

by luludood…:Kids of today are very savvy, they will know a cruise ship does not have torpedo tubes! However they are bound to have seen Jaws on the TV and will be VERY AFRAID of sharks! Tell them they will be dangled over the stern of the ship where the propellors will turn them into mincemeat which the sharks will eat!25 cruises worldwide could think of a few kids (and adults) that deserved this special treatment!
by Mr Mister:The boat you’re going on has torpedo’s? Hmm you can ask but I don’t think he will. Where are you going? Syria?
by James Brown:Throw them over board. They will either drown, die of hypothermia or get hacked to pieces by the propeller blades. :)
by Emilia:Why not – if you don’t ask you don’t get!.
by Shorty Sporty:What’s wrong with timeouts?Never have been a parent
